{First Visitors- 1 day old}

Grandma and Aunt Josie brought the kids to see their baby brother for the first time. We had a wonderful visit and took lost of pics. Bash was smitten with Beck upon first glance, Mia on the other hand was a little out of sorts to say the least. She didn't know whether to smack him or kiss him. She wondered why this kid was in "mommy's lap" and not her. She also had mixed feelings about seeing John and I. After lots of "luvs and kisses" she was quickly reassured how much she is loved. Bash doesn't have that problem, he is often reminded that how special he is to our family and why, he's pretty cocky about it as a matter of fact.

{Beckham came early}

Well this little guy just couldn't wait until Monday when we were "sched." to be induced, so he decided it'd be fun to start labor on Thurs. night. I started contracting right before midnight and continued on until Fri. night during dinner, I just turned to John and said "It's time". Still, in the back of my mind I wondered if I was just imagining it and thinking we were going to be sent home. Well, as soon as I was hooked up to monitors in triage they said yep your contracting and your dialated to 5, he should be here by midnight. Beckham however, had other plans. Since my water was still intact and it was the weekend, no doctor wanted to come break it and get stuck with a delivery so they let me labor until 8:33am when Beckham Thomas Ririe was brought into the world weighing in at 9lbs. 4oz. It was a tough delivery to say the least, but SOOOOOO worth it!
I realized we were stuck here by 10pm so...

{Fairy Princess to Cinderella}

I've come to terms that my Mia is not a "girly girl", she does have an older brother who teaches her to fight or "poom poom". We play a lot of dress up, but instead of wanting a tiara and magic wand, she wants a pirate hat and sword. So, needless to say I was so excited to see her actually put on a dress and tiara and even grab her purse. I started snapping away pics and then left to put my camera up, when I came back, she had ripped the tiara off and thrown the purse.

{Nursery is done}

This baby is not even here yet, and he's already taking over and calling all the shots. Last weekend we lost our office to accomodate little Beckham and start on his nursery(designed by Becca). John started all the painting, trim, and painting the crib and changing table, and I had already made the curtains and bumber pad with crib skirt. I'm SOOOO glad to finally say "It's done!" We do still need some shelves or a dresser and little pics here and there for the bare wall, but all in due time.

{Recent Visits}

Grandma Elva and Grandpa Joe came to visit this week and took us out to Kemah. We hadn't been since Ike but everything looked pretty much the same. It was a lot of fun, with the exception of the unbelievable heat . We tried all we could to keep cool. After lunch at Landrys, we hit the amusement rides. Mia was most interested in the carousel and Bash the ferris wheel. We stopped for some dip'n dots and stood under the "cool zone" to cool down. By the way the cool zone, GENIUS!

{Mrs. Becca Brown was in Town}

So Becca and her little brood came to visit and we had a wonderfully crafty week to say the least. We are definitely two procrastinators who have all of these crafty ideas but won't do them on our own, but once we get together, watch out. We got so much done! We made a list and she helped me get all of my "before Beckham" stuff out of the way. We did burp cloths, my nursing cover, recovered pillows, she even recovered my glider for the nursery, and yes we still had time to do a project for the girls.
We made these lovely bow boards for the girls to hang their hair bows to. We went snooping in my attic for wood I remembered was up there for a burlap magnet board and ending up scoring these pre-fabric/batted boards, so we turned these pastel monstrosities:

Mias (I've chosen a duvet for her room from Ikea , and that's why I went with these colors. We didn't want them to look like the typical pink ribbon with tufted buttons)

After Becca taught me how to do this envelope style cover, I'm hooked, I've covered like 4 pillows with burlap and love them, I need to embellish them, then I'll post some pics.
